Hotel Botánico in Puerto de la Cruz closes for two-month refit

Rooms, suites, the La Parrilla restaurant, event spaces and the gardens are being reworked before the planned reopening on 14 July, with the rebuilt Hotel Taoro due to open nearby within weeks.

Tenerife’s popular Hotel Botánico in Puerto de la Cruz has closed its doors. The first luxury hotel on the Canary Islands is set to undergo extensive refurbishment for two months. The reopening is scheduled for 14 July.

The management of the luxury hotel, which belongs to the Loro Parque Group, is investing in high-quality materials and modern technology to refurbish the rooms, suites and the restaurant. The aim, they say, is to „further consolidate its status as an icon of luxury tourism in the archipelago“.

The Hotel Botánico has been one of the leading establishments in the Canary Islands for many years. Regular guests, renowned tour operators and numerous awards consistently confirm the hotel’s excellent reputation. However, the building is showing its age in places. And that is not the only reason:

Hotel Botánico: „Setting the standard for luxury tourism on Tenerife“

The current refurbishment is the third major project since the pandemic-related closure. The investments cover almost all areas, including the La Parrilla restaurant, function rooms and the extensive gardens.

Wolfgang Kiessling, President of the Loro Parque Group, says: „This reform is not just an update, but a clear statement of intent. We want to remain the undisputed benchmark in the Canary Islands and compete with the world’s best destinations.“

Once the work is complete, the Hotel Botánico aims to offer its guests the highest level of comfort and exclusivity. The management speaks of first-class dining, relaxing gardens and a luxurious spa.

Hotel Botánico in Tenerife is undergoing further refurbishment

The hotel had already been closed for 17 months during the pandemic. During this time, the group invested six million euros in a comprehensive refurbishment.

The „Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden“ was the first hotel in the archipelago to be included in the „Leading Hotels of the World“ category. For almost five decades, the hotel has been regarded as a mainstay of luxury tourism in Tenerife.

The fact that further refurbishment is now required is also linked to the imminent opening of the Hotel Taoro. This hotel, which is within sight, also caters to guests in the luxury segment. After many decades, the Taoro is set to open in a few weeks‘ time. It has been built from scratch and therefore has a significant advantage in terms of modernity and up-to-date facilities.
