Reader questions on subscriptions, push alerts and bus tickets

On this page you will find answers to frequently asked questions. As we often receive questions or requests of the same type, we have created this page. Please understand that, due to time constraints, we are unable to respond in writing to questions that are already answered here. We will, of course, deal with all other enquiries personally and respond as quickly as possible.

Questions about your subscription

Question: I am a paying customer. However, I am still seeing the paywall. What can I do about this?

Answer: In more than 99 per cent of cases, you are simply not (or no longer) logged in on your device. Please log in again using your user details – for example, via the link in the blue banner at the very top of the page.
By the way: You can tell whether you’re logged in if you’re greeted on our site with your first name in the blue banner above the Teneriffa News logo. If this isn’t the case, you’ll simply need to log in again.

Question: Why do I have to log in again every time I visit the website?

Answer: If you have to log in again every time you visit our website, you’re most likely not allowing us to set cookies. Or your browser may be deleting them automatically when you leave the website. Your login status is usually stored in a cookie on the internet. As soon as you allow this, you’ll stay logged in for longer. By the way: you’ll stay logged in for the longest time if you tick the ‚Stay logged in‘ box when logging in.

Question: According to the blue bar at the top of the page, I’m logged in. Why am I still seeing the paywall?

This rarely, if ever, happens. If, contrary to expectations, this is the case for you, please clear your browser cache once. This is the cache where your device stores data relating to our website. If this data is a bit out of date, it can sometimes cause problems. Once the cache is cleared, everything usually works smoothly again. Clearing your browser cache is not a problem. You can find instructions on how to do this via the following link. All you need to do is select your operating system and browser. You can find out everything else on this website here.

You’ll then need to log in to our site again. After that, everything should work smoothly once more.

Question: I’d like to cancel my membership/subscription. What do I need to do?

People often confuse the newsletter with membership. If you’d like to unsubscribe from the newsletter, please use the link at the end of each issue. If, on the other hand, you’d like to cancel your subscription, you can use the button in your profile. You can find your profile, for example, via the link in the blue banner at the very top. For data protection reasons, amongst others, the contact form is not suitable for cancelling your subscription.

Questions about push notifications

(on a laptop/PC or on a smartphone)

Question: Why am I receiving these messages?

Answer: To receive our push notifications, you must have actively consented to them on one occasion. Under no circumstances will you receive our messages without having actively subscribed to them beforehand. Sometimes subscribers do this unwittingly just to close the relevant pop-up window.

Question: I no longer wish to receive these push notifications. How can I disable them?

Answer: Simply open Teneriffa News in your browser and click on the blue circle in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. There, simply untick the box. This single click will stop you receiving the messages immediately. Please repeat this on every device on which you wish to unsubscribe from the messages. If you’d like further information about this service, you’ll find it in our Privacy Policy.

Question: I can’t see this blue circle. What can I do?

Answer: In rare cases, there may be browser incompatibilities. In that case, you can simply clear your browser’s cookies. If you need help with this, please have a look, for example, here.

Question: Can Teneriffa News cancel the delivery for me?

Answer: We cannot cancel your subscription for you. Why? This is because we do not store any personally identifiable data about you. We do this for your benefit, for data protection reasons. The downside is that this also means we cannot specifically identify you and cancel your subscription on your behalf. To address this, we have provided the one-click cancellation solution explained above. Alternatively, you can clear your cookies. This way, you can cancel your subscription yourself with no obstacles whatsoever.

Questions about the email newsletter

Question: I’d like to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the weekly newsletter. How do I do that?

Answer: You can subscribe to our newsletter here. You can unsubscribe directly from the email itself. At the bottom of every newsletter issue, you’ll find an unsubscribe link. Click on it and follow the instructions. It’s child’s play!

Question: I’m having trouble opening the newsletter. What can I do?

Answer: Please try clearing your browser cache first. This is the temporary storage where your device collects data from our website. If this data is quite old, it can sometimes cause problems. Once this cache is cleared, everything usually works smoothly again. Clearing your browser cache is a straightforward process. You can find instructions on how to do this via the following link. All you need to do is select your operating system and browser. You can find out everything else on this website.

Questions about public transport

Timetables and tickets (TenMas/Ten+/Bonobus)

Question: I need help buying prepaid bus tickets (TenMas), reading the timetables or planning my journeys. Can you help me plan a route or find the nearest ticket office?

Answer: You’ll find all the information you need on our pages for the timetable and the TenMas ticket. Please understand that, as a news portal, we are unable to provide individual travel planning services for holidaymakers on Tenerife.

Questions about placing adverts

Question: I’d like to place an advert on Teneriffa News. Is there any further information available?

Answer: Of course, that’s possible. You can find all the relevant information here. We’d be happy to send you the media specifications. Please get in touch with us here.

Question: Can I buy links from Teneriffa News or place „content with added value and links“?

Answer: No! Teneriffa News does not buy or sell links. We are not interested in such enquiries as a matter of principle. Please refrain from contacting us in this regard. Native advertising, however, is possible. All links are marked with the „nofollow“ attribute. Further information on this can be found here.
