You can find the current weather forecast for Fuerteventura above
Fuerteventura, together with its northern neighbour Lanzarote, is one of the easternmost islands of the Canary Islands. The Sahara lies some 300 kilometres further east, which is why Fuerteventura is frequently affected by hot air currents. It is also bordered by Gran Canaria to the west. The weather and climate reflect this.
However, the sea, which remains cool at between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius all year round, and the trade winds serve to slightly cool the foehn winds blowing in from the desert. Temperatures therefore remain within a very pleasant range all year round – typical of the Canary Islands – even for Central Europeans. The implicit conclusion that a mild winter automatically leads to a hot summer is therefore incorrect. On the contrary, the weather on Fuerteventura is very consistent and balanced throughout the year.
Puerto del Rosario, the capital of Fuerteventura, in the east of the island, has a minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius (January) and average maximum temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius (July) all year round. Sun-worshippers are sure to be in their element, as Fuerteventura has an annual average of only around 20 days of rain. This, combined with kilometres of clean beaches and a wide range of (water) sports on offer, makes Fuerteventura a wonderful holiday destination.
The warmest months on Fuerteventura
July, August and September are considered the warmest months of the year in Fuerteventura. During this period, average daytime maximum temperatures regularly exceed 30 degrees Celsius. They often even reach levels close to the 35-degree mark. Nights usually remain mild, with temperatures rarely falling below 20 degrees.
The summer months are characterised by dry, sunny weather. This provides ideal conditions for trips to the beach and water sports. The low humidity makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Both locals and tourists appreciate it in equal measure.
