Weather in Corralejo: Dunes, trade winds and little rain
Corralejo is situated on the northern tip of Fuerteventura, opposite the island of Lobos and within sight of Lanzarote. Fuerteventura is the flattest and driest of the Canary Islands. As there are no real mountains to hold back the trade wind clouds, they sweep right across the island. What remains is plenty of sun and plenty of wind.
The wind is ever-present in Corralejo. The shifting sand dunes to the south of the town owe their existence to it. It also makes Corralejo a popular destination for windsurfers and kitesurfers. As is the case everywhere on Fuerteventura, when spending a day at the beach, the perceived temperature is usually significantly lower than the recorded temperature. The weather station is located right in the town, half a kilometre away and six metres above sea level.

The average temperature in Corralejo is 21.3 degrees. January is the coolest month at 17.8 degrees, whilst August is the warmest at 24.9 degrees. This means there is a difference of just 7.1 degrees between the two extremes.
