Five-metre swell closes Playa Jardín in Puerto de la Cruz

Waves are breaking over the harbour wall near Castillo San Felipe and along San Telmo, while the Canary Islands government has had a high sea warning in place for days. Some walkers are still using the sea wall.

Playa Jardín is closed due to high waves. Swimming is not permitted. Nevertheless, some sunbathers are still making the most of it by sunbathing to their heart's content in front of the barrier.

Is it daring or irresponsible? Walkers are frequently spotted on the quay wall - dangerously close to the high waves.
