Vía Crucis procession moves through Puerto de la Cruz

The suffering of Jesus Christ on his way to Calvary is the central theme of the Way of the Cross. The procession runs from Calle San Juan along Calle Quintana to Plaza de la Iglesia. The mayor of Puerto de la Cruz is also taking part in the procession. The members of the Cofradía (brotherhood) reverently carry the processional bier bearing the image of Jesus Christ. The procession arrives at the Plaza de la Iglesia. The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia, the main church in Puerto de la Cruz, is the final destination of the Way of the Cross. The procession has reached its destination. Father Jojo Neyssery is presiding over the solemn ceremony in the beautiful church of Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia.
