Locals consider Playa Bollullo to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the Canary Islands. Why? Our photos below will show you. Click on 'Continue >' on the right now Playa Bollullo lies at the foot of the Orotava Valley - right next to Puerto de la Cruz. On cloudless days, the view stretches across the region's green landscape all the way up to Mount Teide. However, getting there can be quite an adventure on some days. You pass ruins along the way, and on the single-lane road you have to put the car in reverse time and again. On the way to the beach, you pass a small memorial. That's because the beach isn't entirely without its dangers. But more on that later... The Playa Bollullo is right next to Puerto de la Cruz, with Martiánez Beach within sight. To reach the beach, you have to walk down a footpath. Once you get there, it immediately becomes clear that this beach isn't your typical swimming beach. The current at Playa Bollullo is considered strong all year round. Warning signs point this out all over the beach. You really should only go for a swim here if you're very good at it - just like this gang who live on the beach. The reason are these man-high waves. This couple is about to find out just how powerful the waves at Playa Bollullo can be... That's how fast the ground is washed away from under your feet. That puts others off as well. If you fancy a break, there's a little beach bar. The food is said to be good. Drinks are also served. You are allowed to take them onto the beach. Playa Bollullo on Tenerife lies right between banana plantations. Anyone staying until late afternoon also gets a great sunset. The low-hanging sun and the banana plantations below make for a stunning view. Directions and info: >>> to the Beach tip: Playa Bollullo in Tenerife's north
