Lanzarote is the north-easternmost island of the Canary Islands. It borders Fuerteventura to the south and Gran Canaria to the west. It rarely rains on Lanzarote. However, the wind can be very strong on some days. The air is not particularly cold, though, as the fresh trade winds ensure a mild climate and consistent temperatures on Lanzarote all year round.
The distinct seasons familiar from Germany do not exist in Lanzarote in this form, in terms of changes in the weather. Nevertheless, the weather does, of course, vary from month to month.
During the peak season between December and mid-April, it is still relatively cool, with temperatures of around 21 degrees Celsius and roughly seven hours of sunshine a day. What’s more, the likelihood of rain is highest around the turn of the year. Nevertheless, winter is, of course, very mild compared to temperatures in Central Europe.
The warmest months on Lanzarote
In spring, from mid-April to June, it gets noticeably warmer. The temperature climbs to as high as 25 degrees and the chance of rain drops rapidly. The Atlantic Ocean reaches temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees during this time.
In summer, the weather on Lanzarote is simply lovely. With average daytime temperatures of 30 degrees and around ten hours of sunshine, it’s almost heavenly. Thanks to the gentle trade winds, even such high temperatures are rarely uncomfortable. The sea temperature is around 21 °C at this time of year.
