Semana Santa in Puerto de la Cruz, from Palm Sunday to Good Friday

Processions moved through the streets of the northern town, from the «Senor de la Burrita» on Domingo de Ramos to the Magna procession on Viernes Santo, with brotherhoods, floats and the mayor taking part. Here are the pictures.

«Señor de la Burrita» has arrived. And the solemn ceremony in the main church of Puerto de la Cruz has come to an end.

The cofradías and hermandades (brotherhoods) are preparing for the grand Magna Procession on Good Friday. The pointed hoods form part of the penitential attire of the cofradías and have a long tradition in Spain. They are a symbol of penance and humility before God.
