The Skeleton of La Matanza crumbles on Tenerife’s north coast

Concrete slabs keep falling from the abandoned shell, which sits inside a protected area and has been decaying for more than half a century. Residents want it pulled down, yet bats are among the reasons given against demolition.

Local residents are calling for it to be demolished or blown up. However, bats are cited, amongst other reasons, as the reason why demolition is not possible. The skeleton of La Matanza stands on the north coast of Tenerife. There are plenty of caves and rocky outcrops.
