To those familiar with Puerto de la Cruz, the hotel is well known as the „Parque San Antonio“. However, that name is no longer in use. Nor is the concept. Under the name „Radisson Resort & Residences“, the municipality in the north of the largest of the Canary Islands is set to gain a new luxury hotel.

With the refurbishment of this property, Puerto is set to gain its fourth five-star hotel. And with the ‚adults only‘ designation, the hotel will be open exclusively to adults and, on request, their pets as well. The aim is to enable guests to enjoy refined luxury and tranquillity.

The opening is scheduled for 15 December – just in time for the winter season. For the recently refurbished Hotel Botánico and the also brand-new Taoro Hotel, the arrival of Radisson in Tenerife spells stiff competition.

Radisson opens its first hotel in Tenerife

The Belgium-based hotel chain is opening its first property on the Canary Islands with this adults-only hotel. Work on the new opening has been underway since May. The interior has been extensively refurbished. The chain is also working on optimising sustainability and energy efficiency.

The property remains in the hands of the „Tenerife Assets Company“ and is therefore majority-owned by Canarian interests. Radisson is leasing the complex and hopes to make a strong start in the Canary Islands. Following two hotels on Gran Canaria and one on Lanzarote, this is the fourth property in the archipelago.

The former Parque San Antonio has had an eventful history. The complex has been in existence for almost six decades. Consequently, there was a great deal of work for the architects and building contractors, who succeeded in preserving the fundamental charm of the original architecture.

Tenerife is set to gain 240 new five-star rooms

Furthermore, Radisson in Puerto de la Cruz is focusing on accessible facilities and improvements for cleaning staff: „Hydraulic systems have been installed in the beds in the rooms to make the work easier,“ says David Hernández, who is responsible for sustainability, amongst other things, at the city council.

Whilst there used to be many stairs in the communal areas, ramps have now been installed to make the entire complex accessible to wheelchair users. The capacity has also been increased.

This means that, in future, visitors will have 240 rooms at their disposal. In addition, the hotel, situated above the old town, is set to feature a wellness area and a range of culinary offerings.
