You can tell that Reina has been working hard over the past few days. And yet she looks absolutely stunning in her costume.
Accompanied by numerous samba groups, the queen parades through the streets of Santa Cruz.
Time and again, revellers in outlandish costumes mingle amongst the samba groups.
The dancers look as though they are working hard, but are pleased with their performances.

The 'almost-queens' are enjoying their big moment to the full.
The Reina costumes can weigh up to 500 kilograms.
The Reina contenders who did not make it to the throne have their big moment at the end of the parade.
An international trend has also made its way into the carnival celebrations on Tenerife: oversized headphones.
The marching groups consist mainly of samba groups. Whilst the outfits tend to be rather skimpy, the headdresses are all the more elaborately designed.
