Rain washes out much of Tenerife carnival, costumes still on show

Then there are those who make a statement. Here's a shout-out to Playa Jardín in Puerto de la Cruz, which has been closed due to sewage issues. Meanwhile, life in the capital, Santa Cruz, is proceeding in a dignified manner. This gentleman is dressed in elaborate and very elegant attire. There are also some excellent costumes on display. Barely ten metres further on, the topic is already completely different. These 'monsters' have five eyes, but they're smiling. The dance groups' traditional costumes are particularly elaborate every year. And yet the costumes hold up well even under the strain of rapid movements. It's a proper nightmare in here.
