Mascarita Ponte Tacón puts 419 runners in heels on the streets

Thousands packed the old town of Puerto de la Cruz as men in dresses and platform shoes tackled the 600 metres from Plaza de los Reyes Católicos to Plaza del Charco. Prizes came after midnight, then music on two stages.

419 participants donned their finest outfits and climbed onto impossibly high platforms to cover the approximately 600 metres between the Plaza de los Reyes Católicos and the Plaza del Charco.

To this end, they laced up their shoes as high as possible and adjusted them here and there.
