Workshop on making things with periwinkle shells in Tuineje
At the Fiestas de San Miguel Arcángel in Tuineje, a workshop will demonstrate how to make crafts using periwinkle shells and how to prepare the shells for this purpose. It will be led by the Dalton brothers, Alejandro and Raúl Cabrera Veneros. Participants are welcome to bring their own shells. The workshop is suitable for families and will take place in the Plaza de San Miguel.

The workshop 'Aprende y conoce el toque de lapas' is part of the programme for the 2026 Fiestas de San Miguel Arcángel in Tuineje, Fuerteventura. The focus is on the 'toque de lapas', that is, the rhythmic playing of whelk shells. Alejandro and Raúl Cabrera Veneros, known as the Dalton brothers, will be leading the session.
Anyone taking part is welcome to bring their own whelk shells. During the workshop, the brothers will demonstrate how to prepare the shells for playing. The meeting point is the Plaza de San Miguel in Tuineje.
The workshop will take place on Thursday, 1 October 2026, from 18:00 to 20:00. It forms part of the San Miguel Arcángel festival programme, which runs in Tuineje from 25 September to 18 October.
