The Farinelli Programme is dedicated to works written for the famous singer Carlo Broschi, known as Farinelli, or associated with him. Franco Fagioli performs arias by Nicola Porpora, Johann Adolf Hasse, Riccardo Broschi and Carlo Sellitto. Porpora was Farinelli's teacher, and Riccardo Broschi was his brother.
The Gabetta Consort performs on period instruments under the direction of Andrés Gabetta. The ensemble contrasts the vocal pieces with instrumental works by Antonio Vivaldi and Henry Purcell. The programme also includes two violin concertos by Vivaldi, including the 'Grosso Mogul'.
The concert is part of the Antiqva series at the Teatro Pérez Galdós. This series focuses on music from the 12th century through to the Baroque period, whilst also embracing encounters between styles, disciplines and cultures. The performance will take place in the theatre's Sala Principal.
