"Spanish Rock Swings" is a programme in the El Rincón del Jazz series at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. The Perinké Big Band takes well-known Spanish rock songs and reworks them for a large ensemble. These are not simply cover versions, but new orchestrations featuring brass, a rhythm section and a big-band sound. Among other things, the programme cites Paul Anka's album "Rock Swings" as an inspiration.
The programme features reworked pieces by artists such as Fito, Bunbury, Robe Iniesta and Rosendo. The arrangements are by Gran Canaria-born Claudio Marrero. Taking centre stage is Litus, billed as a singer, composer and showman, who lends the evening his own distinctive touch with his voice and stage presence.
The concert on 19 December 2026 begins at 20:30 in the Jerónimo Saavedra Hall at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The performance lasts 75 minutes and takes place without an interval. Admission costs 20 euros.
The big band features Eduardo Naranjo Afonso, José Abián Benítez Santana, Gonzalo Echedey Angulo Monzón, Eliseo Bordón García and Candy González Domínguez on saxophones; Orlando González Mújica, Javier Herrera Gabás, Franklin Cárdenes Rodríguez and Carlos Bieito Alonso on trombones; and Juan Ramón Martín Trujillo, Silvia Jiménez Hernández, Juan Antonio Guerrero Ortiz and Antonio Jorge Ojeda García on trumpets. The rhythm section comprises Amelia J. Gutiérrez Cano on percussion, Samuel Medina Gutiérrez on drums, Rayko León Ojeda on piano, Leandro Ojeda Santana on double bass and electric bass, and Luis J. Merino Castaño on guitar. Ximo Martínez Castelló is the artistic and musical director, whilst José Ortega is responsible for sound.
