The concert forms part of the Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra's 12th season and will be conducted by the Portuguese conductor Renata Oliveira. Luis O'Malley is responsible for the staging. Mingo Ruano and Alicia Ramos will appear as actors, meaning the programme combines a concert with theatrical elements.
The programme features excerpts from “Hamlet” by Alfred Reed, including the sections “Prologue: Elsinore and the Court of Claudius”, “Hamlet and Ophelia”, “Entrance of the Players” and “Epilogue: The Death of Hamlet”. This is complemented by “Romeo and Juliet” by P. I. Tchaikovsky, lasting 20 minutes.
The orchestra will also perform “Othello” by Alfred Reed, featuring the sections “Prelude (Venice)”, “Aubade (Cyprus)”, “Othello and Desdemona”, “Entrance of the Court” and “The Death of Desdemona”; “Epilogue”. The performance will take place in the Sala Sinfónica at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
