The workshop is being organised by the Santa Brígida Senior Citizens' Club with the support of Cibervoluntarios. Over the course of two days, it will focus on digital tools for a healthier life online and on issues that arise when using apps and online services. The topics of digitalisation and the digital divide will also be addressed.
Amongst others, the workshop will showcase the Yuka and MyRealFood apps, which evaluate products by scanning barcodes and can suggest healthier alternatives or suitable recipes. Also featured will be Memory Train for cognitive training and a new application from the Canary Islands Health Service that combines early appointment booking with personal health records. Another topic is a cholesterol app for monitoring levels and selecting suitable foods.
Another section is devoted to digital leisure offerings such as YouTube, Spotify, Netflix and iVoox. Three practical exercises are planned for this: creating a playlist using artificial intelligence, gathering ideas for leisure and entertainment, and making use of quick recommendations. The workshop will also explain the key uses of social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
Voice assistants are also covered, including functions such as calling a relative, setting a reminder for a task or checking the opening hours of the nearest chemist's. The workshop is free of charge, but places are very limited. Registration can be done in person, by telephone on 928644242 or by email to [email protected].
