The module forms part of an island-wide training programme run by the La Gomera Island Council to strengthen and professionalise the craft sector. In Vallehermoso, the focus is on Canary Islands craft techniques. The programme comprises theoretical content and practical sessions that address the preservation of traditional knowledge and the updating of methods and skills for today's professional practice.
"Artesanía Viva" aims to preserve traditional crafts on La Gomera whilst adapting them to new market demands and digital developments. According to the Island Council, the overall programme covers, amongst other things, digital skills, design and creativity, marketing and sales, craft business management, and the transfer of knowledge between generations. In addition to face-to-face and practical sessions, the programme also includes digital content and learning support via a virtual campus.
The training is aimed at individuals who hold a craftsperson's certificate issued by the Island Council. Registration is handled by Academia Axón and can be done in person or by telephone on 922 87 18 56, Monday to Sunday from 8:00 to 20:00. The sessions in Vallehermoso will take place on Wednesday 21 October and Thursday 22 October 2026, from 16:30 to 19:30 on both days.
