The excursion forms part of the programme for the 'Campus La Gomera 2026' university courses at the University of La Laguna. The meeting point is the Plaza de Alajeró. From there, the route takes in Alajeró, Montaña del Calvario, the hamlet of Quise, La Caldera and Cala Cantera.
Along the way, participants will undertake a practical exercise in which they identify and select geomorphological sites and locations of geotourism interest. The focus will be on field observations and explanations given directly at each location. The theme is the geopatrimonio of La Gomera and the opportunities it offers for geotourism in volcanic island regions.
The programme is aimed particularly at students of geography, tourism, environmental sciences and biology. It is also aimed at public institutions and companies wishing to deepen their knowledge of geopatrimonio and its role in tourism.
The academic director is Francisco Javier Dóniz Páez, a professor in the Department of Geography and History at the University of La Laguna. Participants who register in advance will receive a certificate of attendance from the university. Upon passing the assessment, a further certificate of attendance and successful completion will be issued.
