Opening of the TIEMPO SUR Film Festival in Garafía
The TIEMPO SUR Film Festival kicks off in Garafía with the opening of its 14th edition. The event will begin with a presentation of this year's theme, followed by a screening of the film «El ojo que cuida La Palma», after which DJ Walter Drop will provide the music. Admission is free and the event is aimed at an audience with an interest in cinema and culture on La Palma.
The opening ceremony begins on Friday 2 October at 19:00 at the Casa de la Cultura de Garafía. To mark the official start of the 14th edition of the festival, TIEMPO SUR will present the theme for 2026. This theme will run throughout the festival, focusing on cinema as a means of perceiving, listening to and transforming a region.
This will be followed by a screening of 'El ojo que cuida La Palma'. The evening will then draw to a close with an open-ended session featuring music by DJ Walter Drop. Admission is free.
TIEMPO SUR takes place in the Comarca Noroeste on La Palma and, according to the organisers, is a festival that qualifies for the Goya Awards. The project is organised by Alter Consciens. This year's edition is supported by, amongst others, the La Palma Island Council, Sodepal, Garafía Town Council, Puntagorda Town Council, Tijarafe Town Council and the La Palma Film Commission.
