"Arahal. Un lugar donde descansar" is a new production by the Canary Islands-based Compañía Pieles. The piece premiered in January 2026 as part of #EnParalelo at the 42nd Festival de Música de Canarias and can now be seen at Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz.
The production is conceived as an interdisciplinary work, rooted in tradition whilst reimagining it from a contemporary perspective. Percussion, voice, stone, seeds and silence merge to form an ancient chant that connects the Canary Islands, North Africa and the Sephardic heritage. In doing so, Pieles creates a space that bridges intimacy, the sacred and the communal.
In terms of content, the piece explores shared roots and the musical heritage that the Canary Islands have inherited from Amazigh and Sephardic cultures. Pieles operates at the intersection of cultural heritage, reinterpretation and new creation.
The performance begins on Friday, 9 October 2026, at 20:00 at Espacio La Granja in Parque La Granja, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Tickets are priced at 12 euros online.
