The talks form part of the II Jornadas divulgativas organised by the Observatorio de las Migraciones del Faro de Buenavista. The event begins on Saturday at 9:30 with a welcome and introduction at the Casa de la Cultura Casa La Viuda on Calle el Puerto in Buenavista del Norte.
At 10:00, ornithologist and biologist Beneharo Rodríguez from GOHNIC will speak about the impact of light pollution on seabirds. At 10:45, Virginia Díaz will present 'El Primer Viaje', an initiative to protect the yellow-billed shearwater. At 11:15, marine biologist Claudia Hurtado from the ULL will discuss the distribution, monitoring and conservation of sea turtles in Teno-Rasca.
Following a coffee break at 11:45, the programme continues at 12:15 with marine biologist Daniel Miranda, who will present a population estimate for the sperm whale in the Canary Islands. At 12:45, ornithologist Juan José Ramos from Birding Canarias will present the 2026 spring migration count of seabirds along the coast of Antigua on Fuerteventura. The programme concludes at 13:15 with Abraham Hernández presenting the results of the 2025 autumn count carried out at the observatory itself.
In addition, an observation session has been announced for 16:30 at the Faro de Buenavista. Admission to the talks is free; no registration is required.
