„Ten+“ or „TenMas“ (formerly „Bonobus“) is the name of the popular ticket that allows locals and tourists to travel around Tenerife extremely cheaply. The name refers to a type of prepaid bus ticket. There is also a flat-rate option available.
Affordable travel in Tenerife
The prepaid TenMas ticket can be topped up with a credit of two euros or more. It offers attractive discounts and is valid on all bus routes in Tenerife as well as on the few tram routes in Tenerife, for example between Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
Anyone planning day trips in Tenerife without a hire car should definitely get a Ten+ ticket. On journeys of less than 20 kilometres, TITSA, the island’s public transport and bus operator, offers a 30 per cent discount. On journeys of more than 20 kilometres, a discount of as much as 50 per cent is available. This means, for example, that a journey from Puerto de la Cruz to Los Gigantes costs just 4.65 euros. The 45-minute express bus service between Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz costs just 3.45 euros.
When boarding, hold your TenMas ticket up to a digital ticket validator. You will immediately see your current balance on the display. When alighting, hold the card up to the machine again and the fare for your journey will be deducted from your ticket.
The best bit: if you don’t have enough credit to cover the fare, you can pay the difference in cash to the bus driver. You’ll still receive the full discount.
The only exception to this is the tram in Santa Cruz. There, a flat-rate fare is charged. So it doesn’t matter whether you travel just one stop or from one terminus to the other.
The new flat-rate tourist pass
And for frequent travellers, there’s an even better deal: with the Ten+ tourist pass, you can book a whole day or, if you prefer, a week on a flat-rate basis. The new multi-journey ticket has been created especially for tourists.
The tourist pass is valid on all routes operated by the green Titsa buses, as well as on the tram that runs between La Laguna and Santa Cruz. It even includes the special routes to Punta de Teno (you can find our excursion tip here) and to Mount Teide.
Both passes allow unlimited travel during the booked period. It is, therefore, a genuine public transport flat rate. The weekly pass costs a flat rate of 50 euros, whilst the day ticket costs ten euros. The tickets are therefore particularly good value for frequent travellers.

TenMas sales points (formerly: Bonobus)
So where can you buy the different tickets? You can purchase the TenMas ticket at all major Titsa ticket offices as well as from the ticket machines on the tram. There are Titsa stations in Santa Cruz, La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Icod de los Vinos, Buenavista, Adeje, Los Cristianos, Güimar and Granadilla de Abona. They are normally open Monday to Friday from 6.30 am to 8 pm and at weekends from 9 am to 5 pm.
In addition, Titsa is installing ticket machines at an increasing number of locations across the island. These include, amongst others, the new bus station at Puerto de la Cruz and the southern airport.
How much does the Ten+ ticket cost?
The plastic ticket costs 2 euros. This is a one-off payment. After that, the ticket can be topped up as required. Once the balance has been used up, the ticket can be topped up again.
How much credit can be added to the TenMas prepaid card?
You can top up with a balance of between 2 and 100 euros.
How do you top up the Ten+ ticket?
TenMas cards can be topped up at any Titsa station (see above for more information). There are also shops that offer a top-up service for the former Bonobus ticket. Furthermore, the ticket can be managed online at tenmas.es. However, to do this, it must have been officially registered.
What other tips and advice are there?
Make sure you remember to tap your Ten+ ticket on the machine again when you alight. Otherwise, you’ll be charged the full fare to the final stop.
Is the TenMas ticket transferable?
No. Even the Bonobus ticket was never officially transferable. With the paper ticket, this rule was simply often ignored. The TenMas ticket, on the other hand, can only be scanned at the ticket machine once. If it is scanned a second time, the passenger will be prompted to alight. So, if you’re travelling with several people and wish to take advantage of the discount at the same time, you’ll need several TenMas tickets accordingly.
Example discounts for the TenMas ticket
Puerto de la Cruz – Santa Cruz: €5.25 standard price / €3.45 with TenMas
Puerto de la Cruz – Tenerife South Airport: €13.55 / €9.55
Puerto de la Cruz – Playa de las Americas: €14.60 / €9.60
