III Folklore Days in Tetir: Ranchos de Ánimas in the Plaza
The Tetir Folklore Days are dedicated to the Ranchos de Ánimas, one of the oldest forms of folk music on Fuerteventura, featuring panderos, swords and songs for the deceased. Admission to the Plaza de Tetir is free. A local association organises the event.
The Ranchos de Ánimas are regarded on Fuerteventura as one of the oldest and most valuable communal expressions of intangible cultural heritage and musical folklore. They feature panderos, swords and chants, which are historically dedicated to the deceased. The event aims to showcase the origins and significance of this tradition.
The event is organised by the AF de Tetir association, which is thereby paying tribute to the Ranchos de Ánimas. It describes the Plaza de Tetir as a place to nurture historical memory and music with deep roots. Visitors can listen there, learn more about the tradition and experience it together.
