From Thursday 22 October to Sunday 25 October 2026, everything at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos in Puerto del Rosario will revolve around the timple. The programme includes concerts, lectures, panel discussions, book presentations, a round-table discussion with timple players and instrument makers, and an exhibition on the tradition and contemporary aspects of timple-making.
The educational programme includes several workshops and masterclasses, for which prior registration is required. These will take place at the Escuela Insular de Música de Fuerteventura in the Palacio de Formación y Congresos. On Thursday 22 October at 17:00, Adán Moreno will lead a workshop on building timples from recycled materials.
On Saturday 24 October at 10:00, Derque Martín will give a masterclass on getting started with the timple. This will be followed at 12:00 by Pedro Ageno with a masterclass on improvisation on the instrument. On Sunday 25 October at 17:00, Domingo El Colorao will round off the programme with a masterclass on traditional rasgueo.
The event aims to highlight the timple as an important part of the Canary Islands' musical heritage and cultural identity. At the same time, it seeks to create a space for exchange, learning and the passing on of Canarian musical traditions.
