The starting point for NON TRUBADA is the ancient tale of San Borondón, an island at the westernmost tip of the Canary Islands, which, according to legend, could never be found in the same place twice. Sailors, cartographers and clergymen reportedly witnessed it, yet even with its coordinates recorded, the island had vanished by the time they returned. This notion of something that appears and then vanishes again forms the conceptual core of the presentation.
Curbelo Couture describes Non Trubada as both a real and a symbolic island. The collection is conceived as a search for paradise, knowledge and wisdom, and as an approach to the spiritual. This also includes mirages as part of the longing to return. San Borondón appears here not as a place on a map, but as an inner state linked to intensity, sensitivity and memory.
According to the announcement, the choice of colours and materials was particularly important in the creation of the collection. They are intended to lead back to the idea of home and to connect the tangible with the intangible. The event will take place on Tuesday, 27 October, from 18:00 at the Centro de Arte Juan Ismael in Puerto del Rosario. Admission is free.
