The competition forms part of the official Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival 2027 and brings together adult 'comparsas' for an evening of music, dance and costumes on stage. The groups compete to the rhythms of Latin American music and the batucada, a drum-based percussion ensemble that often sets the tempo for parades and choreographed routines during the carnival.
The focus is on the comparas' performances, featuring rehearsed choreography and elaborately designed, colourful costumes. This makes the event one of the established classic features of the carnival in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The overall theme for the 2027 programme is 'Music', which this competition also forms part of.
The event runs from 21:00 to 23:30 and is aimed at a wide audience. Information regarding entry requirements, any capacity limits or last-minute changes will be announced on the official carnival website.
