On 7 October 2026, the screening will begin at 18:00 at the Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología in Parque de Santa Catalina, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The programme will open with 'God Sleeps on Sunday', a 17-minute short film in Shona. The film centres on James, a disgraced pastor who is tasked with building a church in a rural community. However, the plot of land earmarked for the church is occupied by a respected healer.
This will be followed by "La vie après Siham", which runs for 76 minutes and is in French and Arabic. The film tells the story of Namir, who, following the death of his mother, sets out to trace his family's history between Egypt and France. The film was awarded the Casa África Prize for Best Director at the Tarifa and Tangier African Film Festival.
Both films will be screened with Spanish subtitles. The screening is part of the 12th Casa África Film Festival, which takes place from 6 to 8 October 2026 at the Museo Elder. The programme features documentaries, feature films and dramas by filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora, in collaboration with the Cinenómada programme of the Tarifa and Tangier African Film Festival. Admission is free, but places are limited.
