New York Flamenco Reunion is a project by drummer Marc Miralta, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2026. The album and the ensemble are regarded as having shaped several generations of flamenco-jazz musicians. In this programme, the rhythm of flamenco meets the language of modern jazz, with the two styles intertwining.
The line-up features Marc Miralta on drums, Xavi Torres on piano, Perico Sambeat on alto saxophone, Miquel Álvarez on double bass and Bandolero on percussion. The ensemble is designed for flexible interplay, in which improvisation and compás influence one another.
The repertoire also combines the two in terms of content: it interprets jazz standards, including pieces by Parker and Monk, from a flamenco perspective, or reverses the approach. The concert thus builds on a project which, according to the organisers, has helped to turn an experimental fusion into a creative tradition and to promote flamenco jazz beyond Spain's borders.
The concert will take place in the Sala Jerónimo Saavedra at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It begins at 20:30 and is scheduled to last 90 minutes. Admission costs 20 euros.
