Elina Garanča takes centre stage in the third subscription concert by the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria. The mezzo-soprano will sing Richard Strauss's “Four Last Songs” and will also take on the role of the “cantaora” in Manuel de Falla's “The Three-Cornered Hat”. The concert will be conducted by Karel Mark Chichon.
The programme also includes the Spanish premiere of “Timepiece” by Cindy McTee Slatkin. The evening thus combines the late Romantic art-song repertoire with Spanish ballet music and a contemporary work. “The Three-Cornered Hat” in this programme also marks the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla's birth.
The concert will take place in the Sala Sinfónica of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There are two performances: on 8 and 9 October 2026, both at 20:00.
