The Eucharist and the solemn Subida in Valsequillo
At the Iglesia de San Miguel in Valsequillo de Gran Canaria, a Mass will be held, followed by the solemn 'Subida', during which the statue of San Miguel is returned to its altar. The celebration begins at the Iglesia de San Miguel on Plaza San Miguel in the centre of Valsequillo de Gran Canaria. The Eucharist is followed by the 'Subida', that is, the return of the statue of San Miguel to its usual place in the church.
This act marks the end of the religious part of the 2026 Fiestas y Feria de San Miguel Arcángel after three weeks of church services. The festivities began on 11 September with the 'Bajada'. The secular programme of the festival continues over the weekend, featuring, amongst other things, Fest&Vals El Latinazo and the festival of the Virgen de Fátima.
This year, the church is also undergoing waterproofing, repainting, carpentry work and an electrical overhaul. The church will remain open for services despite the works.
