To kick off Casa África's twelfth film festival, two productions that won awards at the Tarifa and Tangier African Film Festivals will be screened. L'Mina runs for 26 minutes and is presented in Darija. The short film, made in collaboration with local residents, depicts life in the informal coal mines of Jerada in Morocco.
This is followed by “One Woman One Bra”, which runs for 79 minutes. The film is shown in Maa, Swahili and English and tells the story of Star, an orphaned, single woman fighting to keep her home whilst land titles are being allocated. Both films are screened with Spanish subtitles.
The 12th Casa África Film Festival will take place from 6 to 8 October 2026 at the Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología in the Parque de Santa Catalina. One screening is scheduled for 18:00 each day. The programme features documentaries, feature films and dramas by filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora. The series is organised in collaboration with the Cinenómada programme of the Tarifa and Tangier African Film Festival; admission is free.
