The 15th edition of the Gran Canaria Walking Festival will take place from 15 to 18 October 2026. The programme takes participants to various locations across the island and is designed to be more than just walking. The focus is on tours of areas with striking scenery and unspoilt natural surroundings, as well as insights into Gran Canaria's culture and traditional cuisine.
The organiser describes the festival as an open event for anyone wishing to experience nature. It is aimed not only at particularly fit athletes, but more generally at people with an interest in walking. The routes follow walking trails and rural paths and are designed to showcase lesser-known aspects of the island, from its mountains to its cliffs.
Part of the concept is to combine the experience of nature with the island's culture. This also includes accommodation offered through Gran Canaria Natural & Active, which reflects the island's rural character. Almost half of the island's area is designated as a protected natural area and forms part of the biosphere reserve. The festival utilises this setting to bring Gran Canaria's nature, as well as its traditions and regional flavours, to life.
