The course comprises 60 hours and combines face-to-face teaching with online modules. The content focuses on the challenges and opportunities presented by smart energy systems in an island context, programming for data processing and analysis, data preparation and visualisation, and the modelling of energy systems using artificial intelligence methods. It also covers applications of machine learning for predicting the behaviour of individual system components.
The face-to-face sessions will take place on 22 and 29 September 2026 at CIMM, Sala Formación 2 in the Edificio Fundación Puerto Las Palmas, and on 6, 13 and 22 October 2026 in Sala Global .30 in the Edificio INCUBE at the Gran Canaria Exhibition Centre. These will be supplemented by guided online work. The course will include presentations, group discussions and practical demonstrations. Participants will also receive supporting materials such as videos, articles and software.
No prior knowledge of programming or artificial intelligence is required. A basic understanding of mathematics and physics is recommended. A laptop or computer, internet access, a screen, a camera and a microphone are required for the online sessions. The certificate of attendance will be issued jointly by the SPEGC and the ULPGC.
