"Homenaje a Bebo" is the concert for the eighth edition of the Jazz Francisco series in Telde. The focus is on Bebo Valdés, to whom the evening is dedicated. The tribute was created in 2023 to mark the tenth anniversary of his death, when his grandson, the pianist Cucurucho Valdés, and the double bassist Javier Colina, a close friend and colleague of Bebo's, joined forces for this project.
In Telde, Javier Colina and Cucurucho Valdés will take to the stage alongside Moisés Porro. The programme takes the audience on a journey through Bebo Valdés's work, featuring pieces from the classical and popular Cuban repertoire. It also includes original compositions by Cucurucho, as well as tracks that Bebo Valdés and Javier Colina performed together on stages such as the Village Vanguard in New York.
The evening is part of the Jazz Francisco concert series and will take place in the Plaza de San Francisco in Telde. It begins on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at 20:30.
