Leyenda y la tormenta: A Family Piece by 2RC Teatro

«Leyenda y la tormenta» is a family play by 2RC Teatro about the guardian of the lighthouses across the Canary Islands, who must restore the light to the islands after a storm. The production combines theatre, fantasy and imagery from the Canary Islands with themes such as courage, responsibility and helping others. It is recommended for children aged four and over; the performance lasts 60 minutes.

The story centres on Leyenda, who protects the light of the lighthouses on all the islands. To keep herself awake during the long nights, she carries books full of great adventures in her suitcases. Then, one stormy night, something mysterious happens: whilst she is asleep, the lighthouses go out. The audience accompanies her on a journey full of adventure and mystery to restore the light to the Canary Islands.

The play is produced by 2RC Teatro and is aimed at a family audience aged four and over. Rafael Rodríguez is responsible for the direction and stage design. Beatriz Rodríguez takes to the stage as Tormenta. The script is by Rafael Rodríguez and Guaxara Baldassarre. Sound design is by Ximo Martínez, and lighting by Beny Arencibia. Roberto Pérez is responsible for movement theatre consultancy, whilst Lorena Mares designs the costumes and props.

The performance lasts one hour. Standard admission is eight euros. A 20 per cent discount is available for unemployed people, young people aged 12 to 25, students, people aged 65 and over, families with many children, and people with a degree of disability of 33 per cent or more. A special ticket priced at four euros is available for pupils attending theatre, dance, circus and music schools. Proof of eligibility must be presented at the theatre entrance to claim a concession.
