The festival session at the Teatro Guiniguada is dedicated to the island's dance scene and presents four works that have not previously been shown as part of MASDANZA. The programme opens with “ÁPEIRON” from Santa Cruz de Tenerife by Daniel Navarro, set to music by Nicholas Britell. The piece interprets movement as a form of resistance and charts a physical journey centred on transformation, openness and the possibility of changing one's surroundings.
This is followed by “BULLnerable” by Andrea Pérez Bueno and Abián Hernández Herrera, who are based in London. Set to music by Martin Roth, Lena Platonos and Ion, as well as Fee Again and Brian Eno, the duet explores sensitivity, emotional openness and the connection to oneself and to others. “BRUNO” by Daniel Fernández of the WETTRIBUTE Company from Gran Canaria is the third piece of the evening, lasting 14 minutes.
The programme concludes with “OJOS DEL OCÉANO” by Rocío Erpel and Adrián Martínez from the ESZER company. This production, hailing from San Bartolomé on Lanzarote and Madrid, combines dramaturgy, direction and performance by the duo themselves. The music is by Martín Erpel, Moba Studios and Robin Rimbaud, whilst the photographic and video work is by Derek Pedrós. The piece centres on decision-making, a state of limbo and the question of whether movement arises from choice or from inertia.
The performance runs from 20:00 to 21:15. Standard admission is 8 euros. A 20 per cent discount is available for the unemployed, young people aged between 12 and 25, students, people over 65, large families and people with a disability rating of 33 per cent or higher. Pupils at theatre, dance, circus and music schools pay 4 euros. Discounts are subject to proof of eligibility at the entrance and are only available whilst seats are still available.
