Borrachito Fogatero: Parade and open-air festival in Lodero

The Borrachito Fogatero is the central tradition of the Fiestas de Los Dolores in Lodero and combines an illuminated figure, music, fire and the participation of the local community around the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. The festival is also suitable for families and is a well-established event in Villa de Mazo. The programme includes a large open-air dance, followed by the Pasacalle Borrachito Fogatero, which is recognised as part of the Canary Islands' cultural heritage.

The Borrachito Fogatero is considered one of the most distinctive festive traditions of Villa de Mazo on La Palma. The celebration centres on an illuminated figure, music, fire and the participation of local people in the area around the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Lodero. The Pasacalle is listed by the Canary Islands Government as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the field of traditional knowledge and customs.

As part of the Fiestas de Los Dolores, the Gran Verbena Popular begins on Saturday 3 October at 23:00. Performances will be given by Orquesta Tropicana's, Grupo Saoco and DJ Equis. This will be followed by the Espectáculo Pasacalle Borrachito Fogatero, accompanied by the Orquesta Tropicana's.

José Esteban Pérez Concepción has been announced as the 'Bailador del Borracho 2026'. According to the programme, the intellectual property rights to the Pasacalle Baile Borrachito Fogatero belong to the El Caboco neighbourhood association. The tradition is also described as having been passed down since 1979.
