The festival uses the Castillo de San José as part of the programme, not merely as a backdrop. The 18th-century fortress is situated right by the sea and was transformed by César Manrique into the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo. Events take place on the terraces and in the bay below, with the Atlantic Ocean, volcanic rock and the museum all within the same site.
The confirmed line-up includes Marco Faraone as the international headliner, as well as Chelina Manuhutu. Also announced on the festival website are De La Swing, Fleur Shore, Francisco Allendes, Dustyfoldr and Iva Dive. A special closing set by Francisco Allendes is highlighted as a highlight of the festival. The organisers intend to announce further names in stages.
EMEC sees itself as a music, cultural and environmental project. According to the organisers, waste, water and energy consumption are monitored at every edition, and the site is free of single-use plastic. The programme is complemented by local art and a food market featuring food trucks from businesses on the island.
Tickets start at 38 euros in Phase 1. There are 500 tickets available at this price tier; after that, the next price tier begins. Tickets are purchased online and then sent by email; this email serves as proof of admission on the day of the festival.
