«Caricatos» is a clown theatre piece by the Compagnie La Belle École at the 2026 Festival Internacional Clownbaret in Santa Cruz. Hugo Miró and Samuel Penhastro perform an improvised duel between two characters, using only gestures, physical comedy and direct interaction with the audience. The 50-minute performance is suitable for all ages and draws on the language of silent film.

La Belle École is the company run by Samuel Penhastro and Hugo Miró, who live in the Canary Islands and specialise in clowning and physical comedy. Both bring with them experience from circuses, theatres and festivals.
In “Caricatos”, two endearing characters face off in an improvised duel that requires no words. The piece utilises gestures, pantomime, object theatre and circus techniques, and relies on a direct interaction with the audience. It takes its cue from the legacy of silent film, which the production reinterprets through contemporary clowning.
The production cites Buster Keaton and Bill Irwin, amongst others, as points of reference. This gives rise to absurd situations and subtle comic moments. The performance will be staged as part of the Festival Internacional Clownbaret 2026 in the Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
