The concert forms part of the Sinfónica de Tenerife's A10 cycle. The programme features Johannes Brahms's “Ein deutsches Requiem”, Op. 45. The performance is framed within the theme 'Freedom or Fate' and interprets the work as an exploration of loss, consolation and the search for meaning. Brahms focuses not on a liturgical ritual, but on the people who must live with pain and loss.
Víctor Pablo Pérez, Honorary Conductor of the Sinfónica de Tenerife, will conduct. The soloists are Serena Sáenz, soprano, and José Antonio López, baritone. They will be joined by the Ópera de Tenerife-Intermezzo choir. Together, they will perform one of the great choral works of the 19th century in the Sala Sinfónica of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
An introductory talk will take place at 18:30 in the Sala Avenida in the foyer of the Auditorio. It will be given by Lourdes Bonnet from the Asociación Tinerfeña de Amigos de la Música (ATADEM). Admission to this talk is free, subject to availability.
Important information for visitors: Once the hall doors have closed at the start of the performance, no further admission will be permitted. Admission to the concert is restricted to children aged five and over.
