The Sinfónica de Tenerife brings its 'Libertad o destino' season to a close with a programme ranging from a symbolist musical language to one of the most famous orchestral openings in the history of music. The concert opens with 'La muerte de Tintagiles', Op. 6, by Charles Martin Loeffler, a score inspired by the world of Maurice Maeterlinck and imbued with an enigmatic atmosphere. This will be the first time the Sinfónica de Tenerife has performed the work.
David Kadouch will then take on the solo part in Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16. In this programme, the work embodies melodic freshness, romantic verve and virtuosic brilliance. The concert will be conducted by Principal Guest Conductor Pablo González.
The concert concludes with Richard Strauss's 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra', TrV 176, Op. 30. Inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche, the work explores, through music, questions of knowledge, consciousness, transcendence and the transcending of traditional boundaries. In doing so, the concert once again takes up the theme of the season, moving from fate as a dark force towards freedom as thought, affirmation and quest.
Before the concert, the Sinfónica de Tenerife invites you to an introductory talk at 18:30 in the Sala Avenida in the foyer of the Auditorio de Tenerife. The speaker will be José Lorenzo Chinea from the Tinerfeña de Amigos de la Música association (ATADEM). Admission to this introductory talk is free, subject to availability. Once the hall doors have closed, no further admission will be permitted.
