The concert forms part of the Classical Laguna Experience festival, CLE for short, which will celebrate its seventh edition in 2026. The festival is dedicated to classical music from the Canary Islands and Latin America, and views the Canary Islands as a historical bridge between Europe, Africa and the Americas. The focus is on rarely performed works, new compositions, and programmes drawing on folk traditions, chamber music, contemporary music and orchestral music.
Cuarteto Imprevisto performs as a string quartet comprising two violins, a viola and a cello. The ensemble will present a programme dedicated to the rediscovery of musical heritage in the Sala de la Casa Anchieta. The programme will feature String Quartet No. 1 by the Cuban composer Julián Orbón and String Quartet No. 1 by Armando Alfonso, a leading figure in Canary Islands musical life who passed away this year.
The performance will take place at the Casa Anchieta in the old town of La Laguna, the birthplace of Saint José de Anchieta. The acoustics of this historic house are an integral part of the concept behind this chamber music evening. The CLE Festival runs from 22 September to 4 October 2026 on La Gomera, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. This year's guest country is Cuba.
Admission is free, subject to availability.
