At «Cuba y Canarias en Punto», improvised poetry and music come together in the form of the 'dezime'. Yeray Rodríguez and Ana Marys Gil have put together a programme inspired by the Cuban 'punto' and the shared traditions of the Canary Islands and Latin America. The 'dezime' is a ten-line, often sung verse form of improvised folk poetry. The event is part of the CLE Festival and is also suitable for families.

The focus of the evening is on the 'dezimen', ten-line sung verses, which are created live together here. The poet from the Canary Islands Yeray Rodríguez and Ana Marys Gil combine the art of words and music to create a format based on improvisation.
In terms of content, the programme draws on the Cuban 'punto' and shared cultural traditions on both sides of the Atlantic. In doing so, the evening places the folk roots of the Canary Islands and Latin America within the cultural and historical context of the festival.
"Cuba y Canarias en Punto" is part of the Classical Laguna Experience festival, or CLE for short. The seventh edition of the festival runs from 22 September to 4 October 2026 on La Gomera, Gran Canaria and Tenerife and is dedicated to the classical music of the Canary Islands and Latin America. This year's guest country is Cuba.
