Pablo Sainz-Villegas will be performing as part of the Ciclo de Cámara series in the Sala de Cámara at the Auditorio de Tenerife. The guitarist has been internationally recognised as the successor to Andrés Segovia and described by Billboard as a global ambassador for the Spanish guitar. He was the first guitar soloist since Segovia to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York and the first guitarist to play at the Berlin Philharmonic's New Year's Concert under Kirill Petrenko.
The programme features the Cinco Preludios W 419-423 by Héitor Villa-Lobos, comprising the movements 'Homenagem ao Sertanejo Brasileiro', 'Homenagem ao Malandro Carioca', 'Homenagem ao Bach', 'Homenagem ao Índio Brasileiro' and 'Homenagem ao Vida Social'. The programme also includes “Aire” by Francisco Coll and Johann Sebastian Bach's “Chaconne” BWV 1004 in an arrangement by Pablo Sainz-Villegas. After the interval, the programme continues with Joaquín Turina's “Fantasía Sevillana”, Op. 29, Agustín Barrios-Mangorés's “Un sueño en la Floresta”, and several works by Isaac Albéniz: “Torre Bermeja” from the “Piezas Características”, Op. 92, “Mallorca”, Op. 202, and “Asturias” from the “Suite Española”, Op. 4.
The artist has performed in more than 40 countries and with orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic and the Orquesta Nacional de España.
