Handeliana II forms part of the Auditorio de Tenerife's organ concert series and features Alfonso Sebastián as soloist and musical director. Accompanied by the Orquesta Barroca de Tenerife, with Adrián Linares as concertmaster, the concert presents a selection of concertante and orchestral works by George Frideric Handel.
The programme opens with the overture from the opera “Partenope” HWV 27. This is followed by three organ concertos: the Concerto in B flat major, Op. 4 No. 2, HWV 290; the Concerto in G minor, Op. 4 No. 3, HWV 291; and the Concerto in B flat major, Op. 7 No. 5, HWV 310. The programme is complemented by the Oboe Concerto in G minor, HWV 287, and the Trio Sonata in G major, Op. 5 No. 4, HWV 399.
The performance will be played on period instruments, combined with an organ in a contemporary style. This creates a transparent and flexible sound that brings out the interplay between soloist and ensemble particularly clearly. Once the event has begun, the hall will remain closed.
