The play «Yo nací en un surco de judías» takes the audience on a journey through rural regions of Spain and explores why fewer and fewer people want to work in agriculture and livestock farming. The performance features interviews with female farmers and livestock breeders, brought to life through objects and food. The show is aimed at adults and young people aged twelve and over, lasts 70 minutes and costs from nine euros.

The play is based on a 3,635-kilometre journey through sparsely populated areas of Spain. There, the Cía. Almealera spoke to women farmers and livestock breeders in their homes, gardens, stables and farmyards, as well as whilst they were working, for example, picking fruit, watering crops or tending to their livestock. These encounters gave rise to a stage adaptation exploring the realities of life in agriculture and why this profession has become difficult for many.
The production is conceived as this journey on stage and incorporates objects and food. Laura Santos is responsible for the dramaturgy and direction, and she also appears on stage alongside Patricia Arroyo and Belén de Santiago. Scientific advice is provided by Petra Benyei and Daniel Iglesias from Proyecto FARM.
The play was produced by CSIC, Fundación la Caixa, Madrid City Council and almealera. The performance at the Teatro El Sauzal begins at 20:00. It is recommended for adults and young people aged twelve and over.
