Impromadrid: Impro theatre ‚Por la gracia‘ at the Teatro Leal
At the Teatro Leal, Impromadrid is presenting 'Por la gracia', an evening of improv theatre as part of Canarias Improvisa 2026. Based on suggestions from the audience, a new story emerges each time, featuring verse, plot twists, humour and characters in the style of Spain's Siglo de Oro. The evening is aimed at visitors who wish to experience a blend of improvisation and classical theatre.

"Por la gracia" combines theatrical improvisation with forms of classical Spanish theatre. The starting point is the question of what a play from the Siglo de Oro would sound like if it were created at the very moment it was being performed. To this end, the ensemble takes cues from the audience and uses them to develop a new plot live on stage.
On stage, verse, plot twists, humour and distinctive characters come together to create a performance that unfolds differently at every showing. The production also serves as a tribute to the great authors of Spanish literature. Precisely because the story is created anew each time, every performance becomes a premiere.
Impromadrid brings more than 20 years of stage experience to the table. The group is one of the ensembles that have helped to establish theatrical improvisation as a distinct stage discipline, and its productions have already been staged in theatres and at festivals both at home and abroad. The performance in San Cristóbal de La Laguna is part of Canarias Improvisa 2026. Admission costs 12 euros.
